Presenting the Past: Psychoanalysis and the Sociology of Misremembering, by Jeffrey Prager

Psychology is the dogma of our age; psychotherapy is our means of self-understanding; and "repressed memory" is now a universally familiar form of trauma. Jeffrey Prager, who is both a sociologist and a psychoanalyst, explores the degree to which we manifest the clichs of our culture in our most private recollections.

At the core of Presenting the Past is the dramatic and troubling case of a woman who during the course of her analysis began to recall scenes of her own childhood sexual abuse. Later the patient came to believe that the trauma she remembered as a physical violation might have been an emotional violation and that she had composed a memory out of present and past relationships. But what was accurate and true? And what evidence could be persuasive and valuable? Could the analyst trust either her convictions or his own? Using this case and others, Prager explores the nature of memory and its relation to the interpersonal, therapeutic, and cultural worlds in which remembering occurs.

Synthesizing research from social science, psychoanalysis, neuroscience, and cognitive psychology, Prager uses clinical examples to argue more generally that our memories are never simple records of events, but constantly evolving constructions, affected by contemporary culture as well as by our own private lives. He demonstrates the need that sociology has for the insights of psychoanalysis, and the need that psychoanalysis has for the insights of sociology.

Review
In his thought-provoking Presenting the Past, Jeffrey Prager examines the phenomena of recovered memory and the influences of therapy. Interweaving his theoretical stance with a single case study, he describes his work as 'a psychoanalytic treatment to explore the complicated relation between the individual and the collective, and the ways in which the cultural interpenetrates the most individual of pursuits, memory and self-constitution'...Prager skilfully moves the reader from the therapeutic setting to the wider social context and back again, allowing us insight into [his patient's] experience from two perspectives, her relationships with family and her therapist, and the influence of the culture in which she was living. (Janet Feigenbaum Times Literary Supplement)

It is often referred to as the Tolstoy question. Do great men help to create zeitgeist, or are they simply its pawns?...Prager has written an engaging contribution to the vast literature on this topic which is particularly valuable because it focuses on memory. People often forget that memory, too, is part of the self and therefore one of the proper subjects for 'Tolstoy' debate. (Chris Nunn Journal of Consciousness Studies)

Prager's Presenting the Past is an extraordinarily ambitious project, one that is constructed and checked by the complex relationship between psychoanalysis and sociology. Confronting head-on the recent culture wars, and in particular debates about the veracity of traumatic memories, Presenting the Past is at the same time personal and philosophical, intersubjective and cultural, psychodynamic and sociological. Prager displays a formidable command of recent research in sociology, social theory, cognitive psychology, psychoanalysis and neuroscience, and a powerful vision of how such discourses can be synthesized to place the constitution of memory in relation to the intrapsychic, interpersonal, and cultural worlds in which it occurs. To sustain the vision, while emphasizing throughout the dialectical relationship between the psyche and society, is an impressive achievement...Prager's analytical narrative is captivating throughout. This is advanced psychoanalytic social theory at its finest, capturing--through a detailed case study--the complex relation between psyche and society, memory and history, the personal and the political, intersubjectivity and culture. Prager's Presenting the Past offers a first-rate social theory of memory. (Anthony Elliot Psychoanalytic Studies)

In this compelling book, Jeffrey Prager has created a sociology of memory, showing how memory is situated in interpersonal contexts, and draws from cultural tropes. At the same time, he challenges the social sciences to open their epistemological and methodological doors to case studies of individuals and to recognize that subjectivity is personally created rather than socially or culturally determined. Psychoanalysis, he documents, takes us well beyond the experientially and interpretively thin sociological subject. (Nancy J. Chodorow, Member and Faculty, San Francisco Psychoanalytic Institute and Professor of Sociology, University of California, Berkeley)

[This book] presents a thoughtful and at times provocative analysis of social and subjective aspects of remembering. The book is a serious, careful, and scholarly attempt to shift the emphasis in memory theory from the individual mind/brain to the social contexts in which remembering occurs in everyday life. Drawing on his dual backgrounds in psychoanalysis and sociology, Prager is able to put together an analysis that contains unique and sometimes revealing perspectives concerning the process of remembering. (Daniel L. Schacter, Department Chair and Professor of Psychology, Harvard University)

No debate has become more vexed in recent decades than that about human memory, and no one has brought more intelligence, balance, and gentleness to that debate than Jeffrey Prager. He gives us a brilliant clinical interpretation of a patient who successively 'doesn't remember,' 'remembers,' and 'unremembers' childhood sexual 'experiences' and then brings alive vast, additional ranges of psychological and social evidence about memory. How often is a book so scholarly also so compelling that one can't put it down? Almost never, but that is what happened to me. (Neil Smelser, Director, Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences)

This talented writer brings together insights from sociology and psychoanalysis to give new meaning to the malleability of human memory. His readers will take away a deep appreciation for this fundamental truth: memory cannot be set apart from the personal, temporal, and cultural context in which it occurs. (Elizabeth Loftus, Professor of Psychology, University of Washington and President, American Psychological Society)

Finally we have a book that puts the false memory debate into a fresh perspective. Both lucidly analytical and emotionally compelling, Presenting the Past is the riveting story of one woman's journey to self-understanding. But Jeffrey Prager's stakes are larger; he confronts the hardest questions about how the individual self fits into the social world. Memory and identity are combined here in a book that will set the agenda for discussion for years to come. (Lynn Hunt, Annenberg Professor of History, University of Pennsylvania)

Prager brings a thoroughly reasoned and balanced viewpoint to a contentious problem--the veracity of traumatic memories. He documents that remembering is not simply the product of individual minds but must be understood in an intersubjective and cultural context. Presenting the Past provides a much needed and refreshing clarity to this controversial and highly politicized subject. (Arnold Modell, Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School)

Her hair was a brilliant green. So was her spectacularly filled halter. So were her tight short-shorts, her lipstick, and the lacquer on her finger-and toe-nails. As she strolled into the Main of the starship, followed hesitantly by the other girl, she drove a mental probe at the black-haired, powerfully-built man seated at the instrument-banked console.

Hey, Let's unify the galaxy!
By wiredweird
You didn't have anything else planned for the afternoon, right?

"Belle" Bellamy (green-haired super-babe) and Clee Garlock (super everything else) are the two people on Earth with the highest innate degree of that amazing psionic-thingie. With it, their minds can hurl them between star systems, detonate nuclear blasts, and do lots of other neat tricks. In their interstellar gadding, they discover other intelligent and psi-capable humans. In fact, those others are so human-like that they are reproductively compatible. And, since the Earthian guys are obviously such superior beings, offers to test that compatibility come often.

It's not all good times and spread-the-genes, though. Dozens of star systems harbor human life, and psionic Primes, all at nearly identical levels of development social (except that some have decidedly inferior tobacco). Unfortunately, they're not all as easy-going and altruistic as Earth's Primes. As a result, Earth's Primes need to rough them up in their easy-going and altruistic way, to unify them under the newly-designed Galaxian banner. The Galaxian inner council consists of one Prime pair from each of those dozens of planets, in Noah-like male/female couples. How do we know they're the finest of each star system? Well, for one thing, the ladies of those planets are super-babes, too. Not only are they as mighty of mind as their men, they are also mighty in their womanliness and eager to prove it by racing the others to a demonstration of fecundity.

This is a wonderful artifact of its time, as close to Buster Crabbe's "Flash Gordon" as it is to the current day or maybe closer. It has all that cowboy exuberance and technological optimism, with gender relations a bit past the neolithic. (He and she both seem to long for a little more of the caveman/cavegirl between them, but even Doc Smith smelled women's lib in the air.) Despite the cultural imperialism and shallow sterotyping, or maybe because of it, Smith brings us space opera at its very finest.

Unique psionic civilization
By Roger A. Connor Jr.
To the best of my knowledge over at least 50 years of reading SF&F, this is the only attempt to describe civilization(s) based upon the idea that the vast majority of the population are psionic. While this is classic space opera - the main characters are lost in space, fight invading aliens threatening the humanity of the worlds they are visiting, finally learn control of the mechanical psi-functioning spacecraft, and begin unifying the galaxy as a part of the United Galaxian Societies- it is also a subtle commentary on our civilization, especially the cold war. One notable idea is the statement "To the mature mind, there is no such thing as status. Each knows what he can do best and does it as a matter of course. Rank is not necessary."

Pink Globalization: Hello Kitty's Trek across the Pacific, by Christine R. Yano

In Pink Globalization, Christine R. Yano examines the creation and rise of Hello Kitty as a part of Japanese Cute-Cool culture. Yano argues that the international popularity of Hello Kitty is one aspect of what she calls pink globalization—the spread of goods and images labeled cute (kawaii) from Japan to other parts of the industrial world. The concept of pink globalization connects the expansion of Japanese companies to overseas markets, the enhanced distribution of Japanese products, and the rise of Japan's national cool as suggested by the spread of manga and anime. Yano analyzes the changing complex of relations and identities surrounding the global reach of Hello Kitty's cute culture, discussing the responses of both ardent fans and virulent detractors. Through interviews, Yano shows how consumers use this iconic cat to negotiate gender, nostalgia, and national identity. She demonstrates that pink globalization allows the foreign to become familiar as it brings together the intimacy of cute and the distance of cool. Hello Kitty and her entourage of marketers and consumers wink, giddily suggesting innocence, sexuality, irony, sophistication, and even sheer happiness. Yano reveals the edgy power in this wink and the ways it can overturn, or at least challenge, power structures.

Review
"Christine R. Yano's deep meditations on Hello Kitty provide us with dizzying detail while simultaneously explaining the allure of what is ostensibly only a childish character. Most studies on the circulation of Japanese popular culture take a macro view, looking at a spectrum of manga and anime as aspects of a cool culture flow. Yano's achievement is to explore a specific commodity and its image, following the trajectory of Hello Kitty from Japan to the United States as she is created, produced, consumed and endlessly discussed." (Laura Miller, author of Beauty Up: Exploring Contemporary Japanese Body Aesthetics)

"This is another absorbing study by one of our most accomplished anthropologists of Japan. Christine R. Yano's sophisticated formulation of Hello Kitty's pink globalization significantly advances our understanding of transnational popular culture flows. And it is great fun to read!" (William W. Kelly, editor of Fanning the Flames: Fans and Consumer Culture in Contemporary Japan)

“Pink Globalization isn’t a primer for Hello Kitty lovers, it’s a deep dive into the tale of the small feline that has dominated culture from East to West—all without saying a word or making a sound. Not every icon can make that claim, but, then again, not every icon is Hello Kitty.” (Scott Elingburg Popmatters)

“Many feminists find Hello Kitty to be an example of a submissive, infantile undercurrent of Japanese culture. Other detractors see her simply as an example of manufactured corporate sweetness. Perhaps the best explanation for her popularity, however, was inadvertently provided by an overheated religious website called Hell of Kitty, which warned that the cat ‘invades children's vulnerable hearts exactly through the weaponry of cuteness.’ And who can resist that?” (Meghan Keane Wall Street Journal)

“Required reading for anyone interested in contemporary Asian studies, American studies, globalization, popular culture, and cultural studies.” (L. Miller Choice)

“Featuring one-on-one interviews with Hello Kitty fans and detractors alike, it offers readers a rare insight into the iconic cat’s influence on gender, nostalgia and national identity. By the book’s end, you should understand Kitty-chan’s journey from innocent kitten to sophisticated global superstar — even if you still don’t quite get her overall appeal.” (Elliott Samuels Japan Times)

“If you’ve ever thought about or explained cool Japan, feminized consumerism, feminist reinterpretations, high art versus low art, Christine R. Yano’s Pink Globalization: Hello Kitty’s Trek Across the Pacific is the book for you. . . . Highly recommended for its careful and detailed analysis of the complete Hello Kitty phenomenon.” (Raizel Liebler The Learned Fangirl)

“Yano’s most impressive accomplishment with Pink Globalization is the way that she arranges the little details in such a way as to suggest the big picture without ever slipping into didacticism or the rhetorical register of narcissism. Tackling Sanrio, even in part, is no small task, but Pink Globalization manages it with honesty, empathy, and intelligence.” (Ben Gabriel The New Inquiry)

"Yano has tied together in one package a number of disparate themes that share the common denominator of Hello Kitty. She artfully demonstrates that this well-traveled feline figure is not a flash-in-the-pan craze . . . Her book is an invaluable contribution to the study of transnational flows of culture." (Brian McVeigh Journal of Japanese Studies)

“Pink Globalization represents a well-inflected look at the Hello Kitty phenomenon. The writing is assured and theoretically rich yet quite accessible to a general readership, including undergraduates. Despite this theoretical richness, it also manages throughout the light, humorous touches one would hope for from a book on this topic…. Pink Globalization is a valuable contribution to the anthropological, Japanese studies, gender studies, and other literature on the internationalization of Japanese popular culture.” (Marvin D. Sterling Journal of the Royal Anthropological Institute)

“Yano’s book is an engaging and interesting read and will appeal to a wide readership—ranging from business history, to Japanese studies, to popular culture studies, as well as marketing and consumerism. … [A] rich and sophisticated portrayal of a seemingly cute but, in reality, complex commodity.” (Helen Macnaughtan Business History Review)

“Obviously, Japan specialists and symbolic anthropologists will love this book. But this is one of those anthropology books that you can actually give to someone outside the tribe without fear of them looking at you askance or with polite boredom—it will be anything but. And this book is going to make a fine text next semester when I teach Japanese popular culture.” (James Stanlaw American Ethnologist)

By GAP
Pink Globalization by Christine Yano explores the omnipresence of Hello Kitty both in Japanese culture as well as in Western countries. Aside from Hello Kitty's associations with Japanese identity, and how this has expanded to include the wider spectrum of Asian identities as well, Yano also interrogates the idea of Hello Kitty as being representative of the "emasculated" state of post-war Japan. This idea, that Japan has become increasingly "trivialized" as a result of cute-culture, also connects with the image of Japan being exported to the Western world. How this image affects Japan, and the rest of Asia, is part of Yano's interest in writing Pink Globalization. The exportation of this image, of this idea of Japan as cute-cool, also plays into the consumerism that is becoming more and more present in the global community. Sanrio is portrayed not only as an exporter of a product, but the missionaries of happiness that can only be bought in order to be experienced.

Pink Globalization is a phenomenally written piece of literature that takes the reader into a world seemingly unknown, that which in reality surrounds us on a daily basis; the intersection of "cute", culture, gender, globaliztion and of course the main topic of Hello Kitty. Hello Kitty even in the West is a household name, but there is much more to that name, the character and culture that both created, and is fueled by, Hello Kitty. Yano's exploration of this topic is fascinating in the range of topics covered, everything from gender to marketing, and her analysis of a product that appears to be one-dimensional (if you have no previous knowledge of Hello Kitty); reading of this book would of course prove that theory incorrect. I highly recommend this book as I have never before encountered an academic book that reads like something you might pick up for leisure. Fantastic analysis, academic topics, and interesting dialogue make this book a true page-turner.

In this book Pink Globalization: Hello Kitty’s Trek across the Pacific, by Christine R. Yano, goes to examine the formation and the growth of Hello Kitty as a part of the Japanese culture. Yano argues that the international popularity of Hello Kitty is a feature in which is called pink globalization. Pink globalization is the spread of goods and images labeled as cute (kawaii) from Japan to the other parts of the industrial world. This is a concept that connects with the expansion of the Japanese companies, and the spread to the overseas markets, which lead to the enhancement of the distribution of Japanese products. She also analyzes the complexity of the change within the relations and identities surrounding the global reach if Hello Kitty as the cute culture. In this she discusses the responses of both the passionate fans and active critics. She is able to capture this through interviews. This is a good book overall and presents many great ideas about not only the Japanese culture but the culture that we live in today as a world.

EXCEPTIONAL and UNFORGETTABLE
By Amazon Customer
**** ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review ****

I have never read a book where I was basically crying or had tears in my eyes from start to finish.

After the prologue I honestly thought about sending Brandy a message and saying 'sorry, I can't read this', I was less then 5 pages in and my emotions were already stretched. I was already shedding tears.

From the very first page this story grabs hold of your heart and refuses to let go. It is the most emotionally retching and devastatingly beautiful story I have ever read and I implore everyone to read it.

Kinsey is a 29 year old woman who is engaged to an amazing man, Colby. They are given a horrific diagnosis which leads Kinsey on a journey of self discovery and acceptance of things that are beyond her control and Colby is by her side every step of the way. Kinsey is an exceptional young woman, a beautiful soul who loves deeply and is loved by others for everything she is.

Colby is amazing. How he deals with the news, his support, love and devotion for Kinsey, his plan and his talk with Kinsey's parents were all absolutely beautiful. It hurt my heart to experience the journey these two exceptional people have to go on.

Kinsey has a wonderful group of people that are there for her even when they are dealing with the difficult situation as well. Her parents, her two best friends, her brother and work colleagues are all there supporting and making her journey exactly what she needs it to be and she knows it's destroying them too....
'This is what terminal illness did. Things like tumors and cancer.
They destroyed many more than just the one person affected by the illness'.

The day that Kinsey spends with her brother Keaton was beautiful, they consider each other best friends and it was lovely when Keaton expresses his feelings for her....
"All my friends, they had bitchy older sisters and jerk off older brothers. But not me. You have always been my best friend and I don't want to lose you."
Their bond as brother and sister is so strong that it was impossible not to feel saddened by the impending loss....
'If you could miss people after you died, I knew I would definitely miss my sweet brother'.

When Kinsey meets up with her four previous loves, each reunion is unique and her story unfolds before our eyes. She has had such a positive impact on so many lives that she gets to discover exactly who she is and her place in the world.

As the rest of the story unravels we get to experience so many emotions that I wonder how Brandy ever actually finished writing Kensey's story. There is joy and happiness, some anger and of course heartbreak and absolute devastation, but the message behind the story is clear.... Every life is precious, every life is special and everyone leaves their own imprint on the lives of those around them.

When I finished reading this book and was shedding tears while telling my husband about it the next day, I realised just how deeply I was affected by Kinsey's story and I can guarantee that it will stay with me for the rest of my life.

I will warn people this... If you have experienced someone you love dying from cancer, brain tumor's or the likes of these diseases, this will be a more emotional read for you (which is why it affected me so much), but I will also say that you should definitely read this EXCEPTIONAL story because the tears and emotions are so worth it.

Brandy, what you have done with this story is nothing short of AMAZING!
It flowed effortlessly, it pulled you in, the characters were brilliant but most of all it was REAL!
I honestly don't think this review even touches on how much this story touched my heart and soul and all I can say is Thank You for allowing me to experience something truly UNFORGETTABLE!

Really touching book
By Amanda - Xscape From Reality With A Book
This is such a heartfelt and wrenching yet sweet tragic story, to sum it up. dealt with some devastating and terminal news, Kinsey feels bad for the pain she's causing everyone around her. such a selfless person, she is. in her final days and months, she goes on a journey to find put what kind of legacy she is leaving behind.

to do that, she goes to each of her four past loves and interviews them for her last story. right by her side, no matter what, is her fiance, Colby. he stands by her as she meets with each ex, knowing there is no jealousy, and nothing to worry about. he is such a sweetheart. he doesn't run away, and in fact does the exact opposite.

this is a truly moving story. it teaches you to live life to its fullest, and to take nothing for granted. make sure your loved ones know how much you care about them. it also shows us how something insignificant to us, can mean a whole lot more to someone else, and we truly do have an impact on people around us.

I have only read one other story with a similar storyline to this, but this book is unique in itself, as the heroine takes a different path for herself. be sure to have a box of tissues on hand, this book will for sure start up the waterworks.

What a great story!
By Kim Walker
What a great read. I went into this book knowing that I was probably going to cry and boy did I ever.
This book is about a young woman named Kinsey who received a devastating diagnosis that is going to change her life. Kinsey starts out on a journey that is sure to warm your hearts.

All of us in life, at some point in time, leave an imprint on the lives of others. Kinsey takes a journey to visit the past loves of her life, along with her awesome fianc Colby, to see how she made an impact on the lives of those she truly loved.
This book is certainly about finding out who you are, especially through the eyes of others. It will even make you think, what would people say about me when it was my time? Did I treat others right? Did I show the love that I felt enough to those that I loved that?

Love, Kinsey is a great read that will definitely leave you crying, but will give you a reminder of what living your life should truly be. Your time on this earth is not guaranteed, but live your life to the fullest, so when your time is up, your imprint on the lives of those around you will carry on a legacy that will continue to touch lives for years to come.

Good book for ideas, but don't expect any instructions
By Amazon Customer
Like his previous lego book, this edition of the Lego ideas book is full of pictures of nice lego creations by some of the world's best lego builders. It's a good book to gain ideas to leapfrog from and make your own version, as well as read about interesting trivias about certain build techniques/lego elements.

Keep in mind tho, that it does not have any step-by-step instructions for any model inside the book. Instead, it provides enough pictures for you to use your imagination to try and reverse-engineer the models within. I especially love the "Handful of Bricks section" at the end of each chapter where they showcase the variety of models you can create with just a few pieces.

Fabulous book to have
By Isabelle L.
When I was younger my mom had purchased me an idea book for Lego constructions. I remember spending precious time going through this book and building the ideas in it. Nowadays, Lego has become a huge part of my kids' lives and I have given them my precious Idea Book from when I was younger - Yes I still had it after so many years... Last year, I had the opportunity to review the Lego Book which has been extremely adopted in our home. This time around, DK Canada has published another fabulous book titled Lego Play Book. When I saw this announced, I know it was a title that would be well received by my avid construction fans.

The book contains numerous ideas for Lego fans - young and old - to develop new skills. There are five sections in this book that contains ideas based on a specific theme:

Once Upon a Time - Jack's Journey, Fairy Tale Cottage, Enchanted Forest, Forest Flora, Fairy Tale Creatures, Quests, Troll Bridge, Castle Siege, Giants, Giant's Kitchen, Fairy Tales Characters, Undersea Characters, Dragon, Fairy Tale Castle, Meet The King, Castle Comforts, Castle Stables, Castle Entertainment, Castle Ballroom.

A Small World - Tiny Travel, City Life, Downtown, City Park, Race Track, Vehicles, Cargo Haulers, Oil Platform, On the Sea Floor, Monsters of the Deep, Ocean Life, Micro-Africa, Prehistoric Beasts, Dangerous Dinosaurs, Micro-Castles, Historical Buildings, Metro Skyline, Outer Space, Future Worlds.

Go Wild - Nature Trail, On Safari, Safari Giants, Safari Truck, Barnyard Beasts, Farm Fowl, Alphabets, Creeping Critters, At the Zoo, Made-Up Creatures, Tropical Fish, Marine Life, At the Poles, Artic Animals.

Things That Go Bump in the Night - Fright Night, Spooky Circus Train, Nightmare Carnival, Haunted House, Witch's Hovel, Monster Motors, Monster Race, Sweet Dreams, Something in the Bath, Mad Scientist's Lab, `Bots on the Loose, Robot Rampage, The Mummy's Tomb, Skeleton, Vampire's Castle, Graveyard.

Wish You Were Here - Earth Mission, Beach Nuts, Ice-Cream Stalls, Beach Accessories, Beach Boats, Hotel Pool, Making a Splash, Beneath the Sea, Extreme Sports, Adventures Up High, Mountain Biking, Water Adventures, Skiing, Snow Transports, Ski Hotel, Holiday Postcards.

Though there isn't Step-by-Step instructions in this book, it is easy to see how the builders made the various ideas presented in it. In the pages titled Handful of Bricks, each fan builders included in the book were given a handful of common Lego elements and asked to make as many different models as they could using only the pieces provided. In these two pages, you can see how creative the builders have been in coming up with fun little constructions for the readers. Even if I am personally not a big fan of the section titled Things That Go Bump in the Night - I am not a big fan of scary monsters and vampires and such - I find the builders are very ingenious. My most favourite section is definitively the Go Wild one with all the various creatures that can be build with Lego bricks!

Lego Play Book is packed with fun ideas that will stir up the imagination of your kids - small and big. I think they images are stunning - full of color and very creative. The text will provide some insights on how to build with Lego, ideas to get better in building and fun facts to read. This book is definitively great for a gift for the builder in your house.

Go Online for free inspirations
By Rob
The book is supposed to serve as an inspiration to build.
However, most of the builds requires a large library of Lego parts

That is not something you can get from buying a few boxes of Lego.
Many built requires cannibalizing theme sets or parts from pick a brick etc.

It’s one thing to inspire kids, it’s another to show them a cool build and says sorry, you have to make do with what you have or
spend another couple of hundreds of dollars acquiring parts online, bricks of similar color so that a castle wall is grey in color and not the rainbow colors building sets tends to have

In my opinion, this book is targeted more for Adults Fan of Lego rather than kids.
Kids probably can build less than 10% of inspired theme.

I like it for the cool ideas and pictures
I don’t like it because you will need to spend to acquire parts for even a moderate difficulty built.
Maybe there should be a book that gives you ideas of what you can build from 2 boxes of Lego Creative bucket 10622, 1 box of Lego ultimate building set, 1 wheel set and 1 roof, door and window set

If you want inspiration, one can go online for free and look at fans build (some with instructions) and even Lego Ideas is an avenue for good inspirations.
